                           State visit of Hon'ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu to Malawi

                                                                           (17-19 October 2024)


Hon'ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu paid a State Visit to Malawi from 17-19 October 2024. Hon'ble President was warmly received by Rt. Hon'ble Vice President of Malawi Dr. Michael Bizwick Usi and was given a Guard of Honour and Military Honour at Kamuzu International Airport, Lilongwe.


During her visit, Hon'ble President held bilateral meeting with her counterpart Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of Malawi and discussed wide-range of issues of mutual interests. Both leaders also witnessed the signing and exchange of MoUs on Arts and Culture, Youth, Sports and Pharmacopoeia. They also witnessed symbolic handing over of 1000 MT of rice and Bhabatron Cancer Treating Machine by Government of India to Malawi. Earlier, Hon'ble President paid respects at the War Memorial and Kamuzu Mausoleum.


Hon'ble President also delivered keynote address at the India-Malawi Business Roundtable held on 17 October 2024 at which over 60 companies from India and Malawi participated. From Malawi side, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Trade & Industry and Finance & Economic Affairs attended the Roundtable.


A Community Reception was held in honour of Hon’ble President, which was attended by large number of members of Indian diaspora. At the event, Hon’ble President addressed the Indian community and interacted with the members of the diaspora.


Hon’ble President also visited Shree Radha Krishna Mandir and offered Puja before departing for New Delhi.
