Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan
High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Malawi

Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan assumed charge as the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Malawi on 13 March 2021.

A career diplomat, Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2005. He served in the Embassies of India in Jordan and Lebanon from 2007 to 2012 in different capacities. Thereafter, he worked at the United Nations (Political) Division in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi from 2012 to 2014. He also served as the Head of the Political Wing at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu from 2014-2018.

Prior to taking over as the High Commissioner of India to Malawi, Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan served as Counsellor for Political Affairs and Head of Human Resources and Establishment Wing at the Embassy of India in Washington D.C. from 2018-2021.

Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan holds Master’s and M.Phil degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Bachelor’s degree from The American College, Madurai.

He is married to Ramya and they have three daughters.
