Prime Minister’s Award for Yoga for 2025 (PMAY 2025)

Yoga, an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition, derives its name from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning "to join" or "to unite," symbolizing the harmony of mind and body, thought and action,and human-nature balance. Recognized for its role in disease prevention and health promotion, Yoga is a holistic approach to well-being.

2. To honor contributions in the field of Yoga, the Hon’ble Prime Minister announced two Yoga awards—one National and one International—on the second International Day of Yoga (IDY). These awards recognize individuals and organizations with significant and sustained contributions to Yoga’s promotion and development.

3.  The awards recognize entities with an impeccable track record and outstanding contributions to the promotion and development of Yoga. Each year, the Jury may select one or more individuals/organizations or choose not to confer an award. Recipients cannot be reconsidered in the same category.

The awards are presented in the following categories:
(i)   National Individual
(ii)  National Organization
(iii) International Individual
(iv) International Organization

National Awards: Given to Indian-origin entities for their contribution to Yoga’s promotion and development.

International Awards: Given to Indian or foreign-origin entities for advancing Yoga globally.

4. The awards aim to honor entities with significant and outstanding contributions to the promotion and development of Yoga. Applicants/nominees must have extensive experience and a deep understanding of Yoga.

    For the individual category (both National & International):
     • Minimum eligible age: 40 years
     • Minimum experience: 20 years of service with an impeccable track record and notable
contributions to Yoga.
